Professional Profile

With a background in business marketing and a Ph.D. in English, Deb brings a unique set of high-demand skills to her business savvy writing.  She worked for six years in the telecom industry as a sales/marketing specialist before earning a doctorate and becoming an adjunct professor of English. In that capacity, Deb taught professional writing and English composition to aspiring undergraduates for five years. Furthering her expertise in education and language, she has also tutored dyslexic learners for 10 years.

As a freelancer, Deb works as a writer, editor, and writing coach/tutor. She specializes in synthesizing large amounts of information, distilling complex ideas into concise and readable prose. She can write or edit business communications and marketing copy, grants or proposals, training materials, and scholarly or creative pieces.

Deb has published in newspapers, magazines, and scholarly journals as well as on blogs.  As a grant writer she won grants totaling more than $700,000 for a local non-profit. She has edited novels, short stories, dissertations, and scholarly articles and can work in MLA, APA, and Chicago manuals of style.
